One of the perks of working in Shoredtich is the fabulous food on offer.
In Old Street station there are pop up gourmet food stalls that change each week and every Friday I treat myself to whatever is on offer.
This week was the tun of toastd.
I had watched the two boys preparing their gourmet breakfast and lunch toasted sandwiches all week and by the time the end of the week arrived I was desperate to try one.
I arrived at Old Street at 9am and got in the que, which was already quite long.
They had three options available all priced at £3- all involved some sort of squashing and smashing of the ingredients.
For Avocado lovers they do a smashed avo sandwich with coriander and lime on Hackney Wild sourdough.
Their other savoury sandwich is sauteed mushrooms with parmesan on rosemary infused bread.
As it was breakfast time I chose crushed banana with cinnamon sugar on raisin & walnut bread.
I sauntered along to work in the sun eating it on the way.
It might not look like much but it was really delicious and kept me full until lunchtime.
Simple but effective, these boys have got a great little business going and went down a storm amongst Hackney residents. Sometimes I see stalls there for the week that don't do as well, but this one always had a que.
Next door is the smoothie stall which is always there and I fully intend to try one soon.
I wonder what next week will bring?
